NAAA Certification
Program Overview
The NAAA Certification Program is designed to validate your expertise and skills in the auto appearance industry. This two-phase program ensures that certified professionals meet the highest industry standards, combining both knowledge-based testing and hands-on skill validation.
Phase I: Certification Exams
Phase I consists of 10 online exams, each covering essential industry topics:
- Equipment
- Chemicals
- Glass
- Interior Detailing
- Leather
- Paint Correction & Protection
- Wheels & Tires
- Prep Wash/Wash Bay
- Detailing Terminology
- Safety & Compliance
- Each exam includes 10-20 questions and requires a minimum score of 80% to pass.
- Your first exam attempt includes a free second attempt if needed.
- A third retake (if necessary) can be purchased for $10 per exam.
- Certification is processed weekly, and you will receive email instructions to access the online certification portal upon enrollment.
Important: Be sure to check your spam/junk mail folders for access instructions.
Once you successfully pass all 10 exams, you will receive an official AAPAG Certified Detailer (CD) designation, along with a certificate and recognition patch.
Skills Validation (SV)
Testing for Your Area of Expertise
Phase II is the hands-on assessment where professionals, such as PDR technicians, bumper repair specialists, PPF installers, window tinters, auto detailers, or any other auto appearance services offered demonstrate their expertise in key areas relevant to their field. This in-person evaluation is conducted by an NAAA Recognized Independent Trainer (RIT) and focuses on your proficiency in performing essential tasks.
For PDR Technicians, Bumper Repair Specialists, PPF Installers, Window Tinters, or Auto Detailers, the Phase II assessment includes:
- Preparation/Prepping (specific to your expertise)
- Technical Skill Application (interior detailing, paint protection film installation, window tinting, or bumper repairs)
- Correction Techniques (paint correction, dent repair, surface treatment)
- Finishing Steps (including final touch-ups, detailing finishes, or final quality checks)
Each session is conducted one-on-one, ensuring your performance is evaluated at the highest level of professionalism and technical standards.
Candidates must successfully complete Phase I certification before enrolling in Phase II, ensuring a foundational understanding of the necessary skills. By completing both phases, you will earn NAAA Certification, demonstrating your commitment to quality and excellence in your specific area of the auto appearance industry.
